Maggie speaking in Albuquerque Aug. 16
I'm speaking Monday, Aug. 16th, at the University of New Mexico's INCBN IGERT Symposium, which focuses on the integration of neuroscience and nanotechnology. As the pre-symposium dinner entertainment, I'll be talking about "Those Fabulous Octopus Brains"—looking at cephalopod intelligence and brain structure. I fully admit that my topic choice is a blatant attempt to curry audience favor w/ cute pictures of octopuses. If you won't be attending, don't worry. It looks like I should be able to get video of the presentation, which will be posted here. (Unless I bomb, in which case we shall never speak of this again.)

Go, Maggie, go! Please don't forget to post the video! We will be your judge. And jury. Break a tentacle!
Is this open to the public? Door fee? I didn't see any symposium information for this years event on the website.
In the past, it's been free with pre-registration. I'd recommend contacting Linda M. Bugge (her info is on the site) for more information.
Cool. I have a stash of cephalopod brain journal articles, if there are any you need that are behind a publishing paywall.
Oooh! You should come speak to us IGERT researchers at the University of Oregon!
I am a fellow of this particular IGERT. I look forward to meeting you and seeing the cute octopus pictures.
Just wanted to first thank Maggie for agreeing to join us for the Symposium! We are really looking forward to having her here in the Land of Enchantment! Second, I wanted to let folks know I got the website updated with some of the Symposium info on it. Yes, it is free. But we do need everyone to register in order to have a food head-count. I will have the registration available next week.
